What is happening on the former Karro Abattoir site?

After several years of discussions with the owners and tracking of the site, in April 2021 Jaynic Properties Ltd exchanged contracts for the purchase of the former abattoir site and sports fields from Karro. Jaynic have named the site Stour Business Park to reflect its setting alongside Stour Brook, a tributary of the River Stour.

Jaynic’s team of demolition and construction engineers, planners, agents and numerous technical consultants are now working up their plans to develop the site for commercial uses in consultation with the relevant local authorities, statutory bodies and local stakeholders.

The demolition of the existing buildings on site permitted under a historic consent and started by the former owners, is now back underway and is progressing well with completion due in July 2021.

In May 2021, a planning application was submitted for open storage use on the site as a short to medium term use whilst we work up our masterplan and we are expecting a decision on that during this summer and we are marketing the site for this use in the short term.

In June 2021, we met with Kedington Parish Council at their AGM to discuss our master plans for the site which include seeking an extended employment use planning allocation and creation of community space.

In June 2021, we received consent for the removal of the old conveyor / bridge over the A143 with the works planned to take place later in the year.

Later this summer Karro will start the process of replacing their old water tanks on this site with new tanks on their remaining site on the north side of the A143.

Jaynic will be releasing further information about their plans for the site over the next few months so please revisit us soon or speak to the joint agents as below;
